Our Impact

As part of the REACH project, we have conducted numerous public engagement activities to communicate about health statistics and clinical trials. REACH’s lead, Dr Beatriz Goulao, has been selected by the Saltire Society as part of the Top 40 under of 40 of Scotland’s talent and creativity in 2023 demonstrating the societal impact of her public engagement.

We have published in 2021 the first ever blog (to our knowledge) entirely dedicated to communicating statistical concepts to members of the public which has had over a thousand views.

We have hosted four national creative workshops with Scottish creative professionals, patients/members of the public and statisticians from clinical trial units across the country creating new ways to communicate about statistical concepts to a wide audience.

We have created videos to disseminate statistical concepts to patients and the public.

We are linked to international networks focusing on improving critical thinking skills, such as the Informed Choices Network, and working with the local community radio and their youth media group, we have developed podcasts discussing concepts related to clinical trials.
